On I Don't Want to Let Go, but I Need to Let Go, Whettman Chelmets wraps up a trilogy of releases reflecting on memories and the nature of ephemeral moments that define lifetimes of experience.
In May of 2019, Whettman released Doesn't Remember.... though Strategic Tape Reserve, a short restructuring of his own work from the last 20 years. On Longread Memories (named on Bandcamp's Best Experimental Releases for October, 2019), he focused on a singular event in his life, the loss of his brother 30+ years ago to the penal system. With his latest, Whettman Chelmets explores the nature of memories and how they often hook themselves into our very being and define a lifetime of experiences.
Across three sprawling tracks, sounds churn, bubble up, and refuse to let go and share space. the effect is often claustrophobic, though trapped in noise and beauty.
